World Nomad Games held in Kazakhstan started: 2 thousand athletes from 89 countries will participate

The 5th World Nomad Games, which saw the participation of more than 2,000 athletes from 89 countries in 21 classical sports branches, opened with a magnificent ceremony held at the Astana Arena Stadium in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. World Ethnosport Confederation President Bilal Erdoğan attended the ceremony and made a speech.

The event was marked by colourful scenes portraying the strong history, culture and traditions of nomads.

The scenes of the Latifa era, the historical Silk Road and the ancient war traditions of the Turkic peoples were especially appreciated by the audience. The opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours, ended with the performance of the world-famous Kazakh artist Dimaş Kudaybergen.

Pointing out that the lands where the nomadic civilization of the world was born and developed are the borders of current Kazakhstan, Tokayev said, “ Five thousand years ago, nomads domesticated horses and formed the basis of a horse-riding culture that spread all over the world. Their masters made advanced weapons and jewelry. The living proof of this is the “Golden-dressed men” of the Latife era. Kazakh lands gave the world distinguished figures such as Farabi and Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, who made valuable contributions to the development of science and humanist ideas. In this vast steppe, the Hun Empire and the Turkic Khaganates, the Golden Horde and the Kazakh Khanate rose at different times.” he used the expressions.

Tokayev, He stated that he believed that the World Nomad Games would also help strengthen international solidarity and congratulated the athletes participating in the games.He wished them success.

The 5th World Nomad Games, held every two years as the “Olympics of classical sports in the world”, will continue in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, until September 13 with the slogan “Ulu Kısma Dübiri” (Meeting in the Great Steppe). The 5th World Nomad Games, the first 3 of which were held in the city of Çolpan Cet in Kyrgyzstan and the fourth in İznik, will be held in a capital for the first time with the participation of more than 2,000 classical athletes from approximately 90 countries. As part of the 5th World Nomad Games, competitions will be held in 21 classical sports branches, including classical intellectual games, martial arts, archery, and bird hunting, as well as games played on horseback.
